    Preparations…

….so, I got myself a new flight today after Michaela told me yesterday that I could be in trouble if I didn’t use the first leg in my booked Germany – Canada – Germany return flight package.

    Surprise, surprise: I’m going home….

I tried to book a flight for several days now because they had one special offer for 99 dollars (without taxes) to Manchester. Unfortunately I was not able to book that flight, so I booked another one today.
The only catch is: it’s already on the 27th of December (after that date flights are extremly expensive), so there are only three weeks left in Canada.
Three weeks to get rid of all the stuff I bought here assuming I would stay the winter.
At the moment the whole situation feels like an escape because I’m not feeling too comfortable here and because it is so sudden.
I don’t know why but tonight everybody else here in the hostel is hyper (at the moment they’re making gluehwein in the kitchen) – and I feel like crying.
There were so many things I wanted to do, people to visit or places to go back to and now I’m just going home. It’s a completely rational decision, it feels all so wrong – I hope that changes soon.

  • Amazing backpacker life

I just met a girl in the kitchen, Lena, – here in Victoria, BC, Canada – who is from my hometown in Geramy, went on my school, lives on the same street as my brother does and goes to the same events and places I do – and I’ve never heard of her or seen or before….WOW!!! :-))

30th November: a good night out

Last night I had a good night out.
Angelina and Brad Pitt took me and some other girls in their big van to a film festival. On the highway I saw Kevin Costner in another car and we grinned at each other like maniacs. I was so excited to get to the festival. When we were there, we ran from A to Z.

29th November: First days at Santa’s village

So, I survived my first two days at the Christmas shop and since I got a list of days when I should work next week, I also assume I’m not fired yet.

    27th November: I’ve done it…

…I’ve taken the job at the Christmas shop. I’m starting tomorrow morning 10:30 AM.
    Yey….my enthusiasm is ….overwhelming.
But I was sick of running from hotel to restaurant to shops to cinemas to….. filling in forms, dropping off résumés without any feedback.
    So, this is it.
It’s just a try out for the next few days but if I don’t break the angels‘ wings or  Santa’s beard I think I have a proper occupation for the next four weeks and longer.
I keep you posted how bad it really is – or maybe I find my real calling there….who knows??!!!
And most importantly, if this works out I can finally start looking for my „own“ place which will probably be a shared flat somewhere close. But then I can settle down, have visitors, can finally bake Tori’s yummie cakes and maybe I even make some popcorn dip 🙂 we’ll see

    26th November: All good again

As promised: a new day and everything looks brighter: I found a job offer for a dishwasher at a local grill restaurant. And after a phone call to my parents, I took off – this time highly motivated.
