One week before I move out and two to three weeks before the scheduled start of my trip, I did my first test ride with about half my luggage (some normal clothes in my bikepacking bag and my handle bar for wallet, camera, phone,…).

2 weeks before take off – fear of the unknown
It’s only one week before I move out of my apartment and two weeks until my planned start of my tour.
(more…)Currently, it is way too cold (for me) to cycle with daytime temperatures around 0°C + (a lot) wind chill leading to felt air temperatures around -5 – -10°C….brrrrrrrrrrrrr….this morning I cycled for 30 minutes to the public order office and afterwards 30 minutes back – and it just wasn’t any fun….

4 weeks before take off – letting go
My oh my, how time flies….again two weeks have passed since my last post….
The past two weeks not a lot happened due to exceptional cold weather: -10°C during the day is something we don’t experience here very often, so not a lot is happening outside.

6 weeks before take-off: current status: panic
Hi everybody
yeah, I know, it’s already two weeks again since I last wrote, despite my resolution to write every week. This time my excuse is that I was sick…like really sick, fever included, just lying in bed shivering of cold and pain. So the last week for me just didn’t happen. Which doesn’t really help with preparations and the “Don’t panic, everything’s going to be alright”-attitude.

Thing is that until Friday morning not much has changed. (more…)

Unknowingness
Hey there
Today, I want to write about not knowing and still acting 🙂
For 10 days I’m now without a job, I still get some money for overtime compensation but I’m not working anymore and for me it feels like being without a job. Absolute freedom, no responsibilities, no pressing money issues. It sounds perfect, right?
It is – almost.
Especially, if you don’t have a plan (at all)…. (more…)

30 Days Cold Shower Challenge – Day 7 to 14
Pheeeeeeew, already one week has passed since my last post….amazing how time flies…
In the meantime I returned to home (I started the Cold Shower Challenge during my work stay in Berne, Switzerland) and surprisingly, it was A WHOLE LOT harder to continue the challenge at home:
the breathing excercises don’t work as well as when I started and it is way harder to face the cold shower in the morning. (more…) -
30 Days Cold Shower Challenge – Day 6
Wow, it’s almost a week into the challenge. And I found something like a routine:
waking up (totally dizzy and still not really awake), breath a few times deep in and out, start 1-3 cycles of deep breathing:
deeply breath in and out about 30 times, for the last breath in, breath in to the maximum + breath out, hold the breath for as long as possible (just let it happen, don’t hold it forcefully), then breath in to the maximum + hold for 10 seconds, breath out again, breath normally for half a minute or so and start over (look up the Wim Hof breathing technique on YouTube for a thorough introcution) (more…)
