On Thursday I left Robbin’s flat (after two days „out of town“ 😉 ) and returned to Toronto downtown.

12th May: a day of writing and uploading….

11th May: Excursion to Niagara Falls
On Tuesday I took the obligatory trip to the Niagara Falls with the two other German girls from Clarence Castle (Sindy and Julia), Martina and her boyfriend.
We took the bus at 11:30 and arrived at Niagara-on-the-Falls at around 13:30. We walked the 5kms to the falls and the weather was…well…. Canadian like (rainy, windy) and too cold for the season 😉 After about 30 minutes we saw the big steel bridge (the boarder to the U.S. of A.) and some kind of waterfall behind (as we should later see it was the American Falls). So we kept on walking and took some pictures on the way.

10th May: Toronto – CN Tower and couchsurfing
Monday was the day of my first couch surfing experience which meant that I had to leave the hostel. A very sad experience since most of the people have been awfully nice – or still are, probably 😉 – and also because of the ice cream which I had to leave at the hostel.

24 hours to go….
Alright, one last post before I leave my home country for the longest time I’ve ever been away…. ah, that sounds dramatic 😉
And I already have to write in English since Barry lost his German glasses 😉 -

Canada – how it all started
In September 2009 (before my 30th birthday), I visited New Zealand for the second time. It was only a six-week vacation, but that’s where it all started: everywhere I went, I met people who had simply left Germany behind for an adventure. They quit their jobs, put their furniture in storage, and left.
How extreme!
Sure, I always wanted to get away. After school: away from my home town, so I went to Hanover to study, and after graduating, away from Germany, so I spent three months in New Zealand.

But giving up a well-paid job, friends, family… wow!
