Soooooooo nice: From Neuss to Bruehl

Download GPX track

The ride from Neuss to Bruehl was one of the nicest during my trip so far: the weather was cloudy but almost dry, the cycling paths are in excellent condition and the guiding system here is directly from heaven 🙂 also, the flourishing nature all around me made this a real holiday.

I started off in Neuss a little later as planned, at about 9:30 AM and went wrong only once. Everything else went as smooth as possible. To „blame“ is the nod system which is almost foolproof: every few kilometers there is a nod with a number and a map with all the surrounding nods where you can decide which direction you want to go next. Additionally, there are the „normal“ cycling path signs with directions to the next villages including distances. It is a real pleasure to cycle just checking the maps and signs along the cycle path. During the whole day, I used my phone only three or four times when I left the „nod area“ near Cologne.

Did you notice how the main color in my pictures changed from brown / greyish to all kind of greens, lush brown and yellow within the previous weeks?

Additionally, imagine the birdsong all around and the clean fresh smells of spring. Delicious :-))

For a while, I cycled through a forest with a whole group of nightingales – the nicest birdsong I know – and heard their songs for almost half an hour. Together with the colors and the smells, it felt like an outside spa.

Being surrounded by such beauty and abundance, I believe everybody who opens their heart just a little will become a nature lover who just wants to enjoy and protect what’s around them.

(And desperately wants to forget about the hammer drill which is keeping me grounded to reality while I’m writing this post)
