Just a little crazy: From Nienburg (Weser) to Minden (Westfalen)

Download GPX track

Right after the start: Tree in the morning mist
Looking awfully innocent but my favorite compagnon was present as well: THE wind

Additionally to the wind, also the surface was…let’s say….suboptimal

Liebenau was my first „stop“ after about 10k – and I was already ready to quit….

Stolzenau was my second stop, another 10k into the day.

By then I recalled the advice of my parents and had started singing against the wind. Additionally, I imagined Freddie Mercury, David Bowie and Prince sitting on my right shoulder and singing with me….yeah, I might go slightly crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrazy but better a little crazy than being angry and grumpy the whole day 😉

Btw. it actually worked and I felt a lot better, even though the wind didn’t stop

In Stolzenau as well: a sand ship is being loaded – a perfect excuse for another (photo) stop 😀

At noon I was in Schlüsselburg at the ship canal lift.

Sorry for posting so many pictures of channels, I just find them so fascinating 🙂

The bell tower of Buchholz

In the area around Buchholz, there is a HUGE amount of restaurants, (farm) cafés, farm stays and guest houses and I visited….none

The first sight of a three star bathing place at a lake.

First, I cycled by and took the picture, then an idea crept into my mind…..

„Why not open the bathing season 2018 now and here?“

Totally crazy….but after singing with Freddie Mercury and friends, this seems not too far fetched 😀

The preparations are under way:…Towel and bikini are ready

It took me three attempts (I was more afraid of the sudden occurrence of lake monsters than the cold!!!) before I finally dove in and under (up to the shoulders!!!)

I suppose the water was a little warmer than the 10°C water temperature of last year in May, when three friends and I took part in the official opening of the Baltic Sea bathing season in Travemuende.

And here the very unflattering evidence picture 😉

One of the many old (no longer working) wind mills in the area.

The obligatory strengthening cake at café Anna in Petershagen….and yes, I had another piece before this one. The first one never had the chance to get on a picture 😀

But they were both very delicious – and no, unfortunately, nobody is paying me to taste them and write this 😉
