26th November: All good again

As promised: a new day and everything looks brighter: I found a job offer for a dishwasher at a local grill restaurant. And after a phone call to my parents, I took off – this time highly motivated.

This changed a bit after ten minutes walking through grey, muddy and still not too warm (2°C) weather. The restaurant is close to the Mayfair Shopping center, so quite a bit to walk. But I was still motivated when I finally got there shortly after 12.
In there, again the same old story: drop off your résumé – no chance to talk to anybody really. The only difference was, this time I needed to fill in their own application form as well which asked among other things for my vocational training.

Oh wow, this is just awesome….. because I didn’t know what „vocational“ actually means, I asked one of the waitresses and she told me it would be some kind of singing training and when I looked it up just now, there was quite a surprise.

Wow, that cow really took me for a fool. I would never have expected something like this happening in Canada, it seemed to be more a German ‚quality‘ to make fun of other people….well, it seems there are some rotten apples everywhere or maybe she just thought it would be a good joke – well, certainly for them…..
Well, I guess, I better forget about that job when colleagues start bitching even before I even get the job.
Lucky me that I didn’t find out earlier…

After this great adventure I walked back into town and after a quick trip to Lush I made my way to the library where I passed the Strathcona Hotel and on impulse went in just to ask if  they were hiring at the moment. They didn’t actually tell me but I was allowed to leave my résumé.
I liked the atmosphere in the restaurant there and had also a quick look into the pub Big Bad John: I really like it on first sight (although the reviews I just read don’t really recommend it), so let’s see if I hear from them….

Back at the hostel I had my first sushi ever!!!! Jessi who used to be my room mate for two nights or so is working at a Sushi place and brought me some non-seafood sushi yesterday and inisted that I had to try it. It was yam and surprisingly really, really nice – especially with the spicey Wasabi sauce….hjammmm :-))
In the late afternoon, I went shopping for the groceries that went missing the day before yesterday.

On the way I passed a dry-cleaner with a ‚Hiring‘ sign inside. So, I quickly popped in and asked if the sign was still valid. The lady, who seemed to be the manager (yahooooooooooooo) told me that she actually just hired someone but wasn’t too sure if it would all work out, so I should come back next week. Yey, that’s good news.

Wow, when I started writing this post it didn’t seem that much to tell but apparently today happened quite a lot when I re-read this whole thing. Always a surprise 😉

P.S.: ah, and I also changed my mind about going to Whistler – almost forgot about that…ha, ha,…it’s just too much happening (at least in my mind 😉 ).
