On Saturday I got up at around 8 AM after a night with not too much sleep.
When Arian came into the room at night I couldn’t get back to sleep for a while. There was a somewhat annoying bird outside which kept on being noisy for a while. After sneaking out of the apartment in the morning (of course I woke everyone while doing that) I went back to the hostel and it was actually raining!!!! But not too hard, so it was just like the shower I missed that morning.
Back at the hostel finally I was back in luck: just before I arrived a Finish girl had cancelled her reservation. So I got in a girls 4-bed-dorm……jipiiiiiiiiiiiieh, what luxury. Of course I took the chance.
I hang around for a while in the lobby and waited for Julia to get up. While she skyped with her mum, I went out for breakfast and had the most expensive crêpe in my life: 8 Dollars but there was a lot of chocolat sauce on it 😉
After this very nutruring breakfast I went for some shopping and found also some veeeeeeeeeeeeery nice and hardly expensive shoes for 124 Dollars (including taxes) but I was really needy for new shoes because I think I could use my old sneakers to keep bears (even big ones) very, very far away ;-).
Then I went back to the hostel, using the metro where it seems to be a nice warm 26° with a humidiy of 98%. It’s just increcible hot down there…. and that’s where I saw a guy actually wearing a winter jacket – unbelievable (I really should have taken a picture…)
Back at the hostel, Julia was almost ready to go, so I quickly washed my hair and we went out for the best fries in town. Caroline recommented a Belgian fries joint: Frites Alors. And there, they do not only serve the best fries in town but also some of the cheapest. For two portions of fries with aioli and ketchup and sauce bernaise we paid 6,10 (including taxes) – unbelievable. The salads and burgers looked also veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery and absolutely fantastic!!!
So, if you ever happen to come to Montreal: take a trip to the Frites Alors on rue St.Laurent!!! 🙂
We went back by foot and were just in time for the Eurovision Song Contest final.
This was the event of the century to see Lena winning – absolutely awesome as she described it herself.
But after three hours of watching TV at the laptop I had to hurry up to get the rest of my things from Arian. So caught again the metro, went to the apartment, had a quick chat with Arian and went back.
There we had a delicious meal of pasta, tomato sauce out of the tin and my fantastic parmesano cheese.
Then we tried to write an application for Julia’s future job but happened to meet Christina from Bonn in the Lobby. We talked and talked until we were too tired for paper work.
So, we just went off to bed.
