10th May: Toronto – CN Tower and couchsurfing

The CN tower close up

Monday was the day of my first couch surfing experience which meant that I had to leave the hostel. A very sad experience since most of the people have been awfully nice – or still are, probably 😉 – and also because of the ice cream which I had to leave at the hostel.

China town

But before visiting Robbin I spent the day with Martina, the girl I met on the flight to Toronto. We met at 11 AM at one of the many Tim Horton’s in Chinatown and it took me approximately half an hour to figure out what I should take. I’m not 100% sure what I got in the end but it was something with cinnamon and a huuuuuuuuuuge layer of icing – and I felt indeed a bit sick when I finished that thing. My resumee is after all that I’m more of a Starbuck’s kind of girl 😉

After that we took a quick trip back to the hostel to warm up (as you have already figured out it was cold and windy again – but sunny as well), said „Goodbye“ a second time to Allan and continued then to the CN tower.

The trip up to the top via elevator is not exactly low budget style (normal price with glass floor and SkyPod (that is the most upper part you can reach) is 26,99 CAD – as always: without taxes) but I would say it’s worth every cent. At least if the sky is as clear as it was on Monday. The sight is just amazing 🙂

And yes I will upload some pictures within the next days but at the moment I’m using Robbin’s computer, so I don’t want to leave a mess here 😉
After this impressing experience we spent the rest of the afternoon at the HTO park (the city beach, so to speak), always chasing the sun since the wind got stronger again.

At about 5 PM I returned to the hostel, said once again goodbye to Glen, the most charming and helpful guy from the reception of Clarence Castle, picked up my stuff and made for the subway, direction ‚North York‘.
Only half an hour later Robbin picked me up and showed me into her new home – a very neat and freshly renovated flat 🙂 First of all she introduced me to Izzy, the smallest grown-up house tiger I’ve ever seen  😉 and she’s obviously not very keen on being photographed 😉
After dinner a friend of Robbin, who was staying in town, came over and the evening just flew by. Then it was already time to try my new bed on the carpet. It was not my most luxurious one but thanks to Izzie I slept long, well and undisturbed 🙂
