One week later…

…and everything is alright…

Despite a few surprises, the move went quite well (there were no major injuries and I haven’t noticed any damage yet) and by 5 p.m. last Saturday, I was finally out of my apartment and the basement compartment was actually full to the brim.
When I left I was quite wisful, but there wasn’t much time to mope because I got to accompany Maetty to his brother’s birthday party 😉
Everything there was very nice too: nice people, delicious food, and watching Marc win on the X-Box—what more could you want? 😉

The next morning, we slept in late, went to a Chinese restaurant and had ice cream for dessert, then it was time to say goodbye to Cologne. And that went by pretty quickly, because there was – as always – chaos at the train station and I was just glad to have a seat and enough space for my heaps of bags and backpacks.
In general, the trip went smoothly and a car and delicious food were waiting for me in Hall – and, very importantly, a bottle of cool sparkling water, because I couldn’t find anything to drink to buy on the way – and that in what felt like 28°C…

The whole of last week was actually like a vacation before the actual vacation, with lots of fresh air and mostly blue skies and sunshine. Even though I got up at around 8 a.m. every morning and, in addition to my formalities (registering and finally deregistering from Germany, terminating contracts, etc.) I still had plenty of time to play tourist in our beautiful old town.

I finally went cycling again

A few photos here:

and yesterday watching the Unicorns win decisively against Stuttgart (more on the Unicorns‘ website), a great afternoon – unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate towards the end and we were literally forced to cuddle up… right, Didi?! ;-).

Earlier today, I went to the Kernerturm tower near Gaildorf with my parents.

Here are some photos:

All in all, it was a wonderful, busy, and relaxing week, and I’m slowly getting excited about what next week will bring and what Toronto has in store for me. It’s raining at the moment, so I don’t need to adjust too much in terms of the weather 😉

Well, this may be the last post from our beautiful country… So, bye for now, see you soon, and keep your fingers crossed that the volcano Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland stays quiet this week! 🙂
